The honest counter: dormant overseeding (broadcasting seed in late February or early March directly onto frozen soil) does work, but only with specific seed blends and only when timed precisely with the soil thaw. For most homeowners, fall remains the practical standard.
What grass seed actually works in the Pacific Northwest?
The cool-season turf species that thrive west of the Cascades:
