Outdoor Spaces That Fit How You Live in Redmond

A great outdoor space changes how a home feels. A patio that gives you somewhere to host friends through long summer evenings. Planting that makes the view from the kitchen or family room something you actually want to look at. Hardscape that connects parts of the property that once felt separate.

We’ve been designing and building outdoor spaces in Redmond, Education Hill, Grass Lawn, Overlake, and Union Hill for more than forty years. Each area has its own character. Older homes near Downtown Redmond and Grass Lawn often come with mature trees and established gardens that deserve to be preserved. Properties on Education Hill and Union Hill tend to have larger lots, elevation changes, and drainage patterns that need thoughtful planning. Around Overlake and newer Redmond neighborhoods, homeowners are often looking for cleaner lines, lower-maintenance planting, and outdoor spaces that work for both everyday living and entertaining.

The Eastside has its own rhythms — drier summers than west of the lake, clay-heavy soils in many areas, and a mix of sun and shade created by mature evergreens. We build with those realities in mind. But they’re only the backdrop. The space itself is what you live with every day.

Why Choose Us

What Working With Us Looks Like

It usually starts with an on-site consultation to walk the property and talk about how you want to use the space. From there, the path depends on your scope. A standalone Landscape Design package gives you a build-ready plan you can take to construction. Most Redmond clients move directly into Design + Build, where the same team designs and installs as one project. After the build wraps, many clients stay on for Landscape Maintenance — the same crews back for seasonal care. Smaller projects on an existing landscape — drainage, a patio replacement, new plantings — are handled by our Landscape Enhancements team.

Whatever path makes sense for your property, the first step is the same: tell us what you want to do with the space.

Landscaping for Redmond's Unique Neighborhoods

Landscape design and maintenance for Education Hill in Redmond WA — Classic Landscaping

Education Hill

Larger hilltop lots set up well for outdoor kitchens, fire features, and the kind of expansive patios that turn a backyard into a destination. The steeper grades mean some thoughtful engineering goes into making it all sit properly on the slope — but that's our problem to solve, not yours.

Landscape design and maintenance for Willows & Overlake in Redmond WA — Classic Landscaping

Willows & Overlake

Established neighborhoods where the bones are often beautiful but the layout no longer matches how families live today. Renovation work here is about keeping the trees and plantings worth keeping, refreshing tired beds, and updating the hardscape to bring the yard into the present.

Landscape design and maintenance for Idylwood & Grass Lawn in Redmond WA — Classic Landscaping

Idylwood & Grass Lawn

Mid-century neighborhoods on flatter, family-friendly lots, where the original landscaping is often ready for its next chapter. Common scope: privacy screening for backyards that have opened up over the years, lawn renovation, and full refreshes that bring the outdoor space back to life.

Landscape design and maintenance for Bear Creek in Redmond WA — Classic Landscaping

Bear Creek

Newer development with great bones but blank-slate landscapes — opportunities to bring the outdoor space up to the same finish level as the house. The proximity to Bear Creek does mean some setback rules to factor in, but that's something we handle from the start.

Landscape design and maintenance for Downtown Redmond in Redmond WA — Classic Landscaping

Downtown Redmond

Different kinds of outdoor projects show up here than in the single-family neighborhoods: townhome courtyards designed as small social spaces, rooftop and patio plantings that soften urban living, and shared common areas that need to work for everyone who uses them.

The Classic Difference — one team handling landscape design through maintenance in Redmond WA
Our Promise

The Classic Difference: One Team, Start to Finish

The person who listens to what you want at the consultation is connected to the person who installs it — and to the team that comes back to care for it. Nothing falls through the cracks of handoffs between contractors. The yard you imagined at the start is the yard you live with at the end, and it stays that way because the same people are around to keep it that way.

Every plant we install comes with our 1-year warranty. If something doesn’t establish, we replace it

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions About Redmond Landscaping

Q

What does a landscaping project cost in Redmond?

+

What service you need depends on the complexity of the project — not your budget. We offer three:

  • Enhancements handles simple, well-defined scope — re-mulching plant beds, a single planting refresh, a straightforward hardscape addition, seasonal clean-ups. The scope is clear enough to execute without a design phase. Projects range from $1,500 to $50,000, with most landing between $2,500 and $15,000.
  • Design + Build handles work that’s easy to visualize but needs to be refined during the project — a new patio with surrounding plantings, a backyard transformation, drainage tied to a hardscape design. The designer works out the details as part of the project scope. Projects range from $15,000 to $100,000, with most landing between $20,000 and $50,000.
  • Landscape Design as a standalone service is for complex projects that need a plan first — feasibility studies, permitting coordination, full master plans. The scope can’t be locked in without working it out on paper. There are two numbers to know. The design fee itself runs $2,000 to $10,000. The construction project that follows usually lands between $80,000 and $150,000, with the full range from $50,000 to $250,000. If you build with us, the design fee is included — you don’t pay for it twice.

A $1,500 mulch refresh and a $150,000 design-first remodel are both real Classic projects. Tell us what you’re trying to do with the property and we’ll match it to the right path.

Q

Can you create landscape for entertaining?

+

Yes. Outdoor kitchens, fire features, expansive patios, and integrated seating are common scopes on Redmond projects — especially on Education Hill and Bear Creek lots with the room and grade for it. We design these spaces around how you’ll actually use them: cooking flow, where shade falls in summer, sightlines from inside the house, and whether the gathering space needs to work for two people or twenty. The goal is a space your family wants to spend time in — not one that just looks good in photos.

Q

What’s the timeline for design & build?

+

A typical Redmond design-build runs 2–4 months from design approval to completion, including permitting. Smaller scopes can wrap in 4–6 weeks; larger multi-phase projects with significant grading or extensive hardscape can run 5–6 months. We share a project schedule at the start so the timing is clear up front.

Q

How do you ensure landscape thrives in Redmond’s climate?

+

Our designers walk the property and our certified horticulturists review every plant on the list. The end goal is a landscape that fills in and matures the way you’d expect, year over year — not one you have to babysit. The 1-year plant warranty covers establishment: if something we specified doesn’t establish, we replace it.

Q

Do you offer post-construction maintenance?

+

Yes. Many Redmond clients move to ongoing maintenance after their build wraps. The same crews that installed the landscape come back for seasonal care — which means continuity with what was planted and why. Care plans are built around your specific landscape, not a one-size-fits-all schedule. See how our maintenance program works
