Planting & Garden Bed Installation in the Greater Seattle Area

The Right Plants, in the Right Place, Built to Establish

A garden bed is only as good as the choices behind it — plants suited to your light and soil, set in ground that's been properly prepared. Whether you're filling in bare spots, replanting a tired bed, or starting a new garden from scratch, we match the palette to your conditions and to how you want the space to feel. Our horticulturists help choose plants that establish and thrive here, not just look good on installation day.

Plant Warranty

Plants installed by Classic carry a one-year replacement warranty. We stand behind what we put in the ground.

What a Planting Project Could Involve

Planting work ranges from filling in bare spots to building a whole new garden. These are the most common ways we approach it — we'll recommend the right scope after seeing your yard.

Soften the base of the house, screen a view, or build a living privacy hedge with plants chosen to fill in reliably.

Foundation and entry planting
Evergreen screening and hedges
Mature-size and growth-rate planning
Spacing for healthy fill-in
Raised & Specialty Beds

Bring beds up to height with raised planters, or plant a native, pollinator, or edible garden suited to your goals.

Raised planter beds
Native and pollinator-friendly palettes
Edible and kitchen-garden beds
Low-water plant options
$3–$5 per sq ft to build the bed

Bed cost depends on how deep it needs to be — which comes down to the quality of the existing soil. Plants are separate: a good rule of thumb is that an installed plant costs about twice the retail price — the plant, plus an equal amount for installation. So your total tracks the bed size plus whatever plants you fall in love with. We provide a fixed-price estimate after an on-site assessment.

Every Element, Designed to Work Together

Design cohesiveness is the whole point. As a full design-and-build company, we shape your planting and garden beds alongside the walls, hardscape, lighting, and grade around them — as one intentional design. The result reads as a single, cohesive landscape, not projects added on at different times by different crews.

What Neighbors Across the Eastside Say

★★★★★

"Classic did a major yard remodel for us, completely transforming our yard… They also clearly stand behind their work as they have been willing to swap out any plants that were struggling and have been willing to return to correct anything that didn't go as planned… I would highly recommend Classic for the value they provide and the quality of the work for the price! My yard went from meh to much more beautiful."

"The folks at Classic Nursery did an awesome job in my backyard. I had a basic idea that I would like a Zen rock garden, and they really brought it to life with all of the details that you might see in an actual Zen garden in Kyoto. They had a great design, and were timely, prompt and professional. I love my new backyard!"

Planting & Garden Bed Questions

The questions we hear most often before a planting project.

How much does new planting cost in Seattle?

Planting has two parts. Building the bed runs $3–$5 per sq ft, depending on how deep it needs to be — which comes down to the quality of the existing soil. The plants are separate: a good rule of thumb is that an installed plant costs about twice the retail price of the plant itself — the plant, plus an equal amount for installation. So your total tracks the bed size plus whatever plants you fall in love with. We provide a fixed-price estimate after an on-site assessment.

Will the plants actually survive?

Most establishment problems trace back to the wrong plant in the wrong spot, or poor soil prep. We match species to your light, drainage, and soil, amend the bed properly, and give you establishment care guidance. Plants we install also carry a one-year replacement warranty.

What plants do well in the Seattle area?

It depends on the spot — sun, shade, drainage, and exposure all matter. Many Pacific Northwest gardens lean on shade-tolerant and moisture-loving plants, evergreen structure for winter interest, and natives that handle our wet winters and dry late summers. Our horticulturists will match the palette to your specific conditions.

When is the best time to plant?

Fall is ideal in our climate — roots establish over the wet season before summer heat. Spring is also good, and container-grown plants can go in across most of the year with proper watering. We'll flag timing tradeoffs for your project.

Do you design native, low-water, or pollinator gardens?

Yes. We regularly plant native and pollinator-friendly palettes and low-water gardens for clients who want beauty with a lighter maintenance and water footprint.

Do you guarantee the work?

Plants we install carry a one-year replacement warranty, and we back the workmanship of the installation itself. We're glad to walk through exactly what's covered during your estimate.
